Supporting Grassroots Junior Soccer
Civilex supports many local sporting clubs in Melbourne’s west, and one of the longest relationships we are honoured to be part of is the Altona City Soccer Club. Aside from our sponsorship allowing us to be a real part of our local community, what we value most is seeing grassroots junior clubs grow and prosper.
On Saturday 8 September the Altona City Soccer Club hosted its Annual Sponsors Function and Presentation Day. Alongside the entertainment and silent auctions, a full spread of food and drinks kept the many bellies full. The lunch was followed up by a rigorous game of soccer between Altona City Soccer Club and North Sunshine Eagles Football Club playing for the Senior Men’s State League Beyond Blue Cup! Event organiser Anna Pittas said, “It was a fantastic day! We are so grateful for the support we receive from Civilex and our other sponsors.”
Civilex staff members George Markelis and Victoria Eresjo attended the event, and George proudly took the mic to speak in front of Altona City Soccer Club community and friends. In his sponsor’s speech, George shared his experiences as Civilex Health and Safety Manager and how the company addresses the challenges around mental health.
“Our initial approach at Civilex is to remove any negativity or stigma associated with mental health by consistently raising awareness and acknowledging that our colleagues and friends’ feelings matter. The type of culture we have is one that is committed to listening and supporting our teammates by providing any assistance they might need regardless if an issue is work-related or personal. We are proactive in offering health and social initiatives that provide all employees with a workplace that is consistent in its communication and delivers on our core company value of wellbeing.”
The Club raised money for the Beyond Blue Foundation – a group the Altona City Socer Club has been supporting for a number of years now.
