Wellbeing is Our Focus
Feelings of wellbeing are fundamental to the overall health of an individual, enabling them to successfully overcome difficulties and achieve what they want out of life. Past experiences, attitudes, and outlook can all impact wellbeing as can physical or emotional trauma following specific incidents. At Civilex, we are committed to the wellbeing of our people and have recently taken the proactive and positive step of joining the Access Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to help improve and sustain wellbeing for all of our employees.
Who is AccessEAP?
AccessEAP provides a voluntary, confidential and complimentary counselling service that provides our people with a short-term, solution focussed approach to enhance overall wellbeing. It’s a way that our organisation can help support our staff to handle life’s challenges as they arise. AccessEAP’s vision is for all workplaces to have mentally healthy employees and, like AccessEAP, Civilex is committed to creating a positive and productive workplace culture and that all of our employees thrive.
On 1 August AccessEAP’s Relationship Manager Michelle Donaldson ran a 20-minute employee information session at head office to share what the AccessEAP program is and the amazing resources that are available to each and every employee.
It was a great opportunity for Civilex employees to hear how the EAP program actually works and how they can have confidential access to counsellors to speak about a broad range of topics that are personal or work-related including but not limited to resources specifically for managers and leaders, understanding grief and loss, as well as after a traumatic event.
The AccessEAP services are so varied that it’s definitely worthwhile listing them here:
• Decision making
• Goal setting
• Stress and anxiety
• Workplace concerns
• Financial and legal concerns
• Work/life effectiveness
• Communication skills.
AccessEAP places the ease of accessing these services at the forefront of everything they offer and have the EAP In Focus APP that employees can download making it easier for people to take charge of their wellbeing. Features include a direct call support, appointments and e-counselling, resources on health and wellbeing, guided meditation, manager hotline and a check-in function that prompts users to notice their stress levels.
Human Resources Manager Olivia Bartolo says, “The Civilex group of companies aims to provide workplace benefits that add value to our employees lives both inside and outside of the workplace. We place employee wellbeing as a central focus to our success as an organisation and hope anyone who needs to access the services EAP offers will pick up the phone and use them.”
