Joe Bartolo

With over 15 years experience in the industry and hundreds of construction projects under his belt, Joe will continue to deliver the same drive and passion that his staff and customers have come to expect. From just six Civilex employees in 2008, Joe now oversees over 400 diverse and highly skilled staff. The positive culture at Civilex is well known, and Joe plans to keep it that way.

Ray’s extensive engineering, project and commercial management experience makes him the best person to take responsibility for business development and management of project managers and engineers, site foremen and leading hands. Ray, with Civilex since 2010, is known for his inspiring leadership and delivering beyond customer expectations.

Andrew Fairbairn

With solid industry knowledge and an astute approach to estimating, Andrew has built a strong reputation within civil construction. Heading up Civilex’s Estimating Department since 2010, Andrew is eager to add to his list of over 200 successful projects.

Matthew Gurney

With a number of qualifications including Honours in Civil Engineering and over 12 years’ experience in the construction industry, Matt is a talented and astute professional, who drives our business as a pragmatic leader delivering exceptional results. Matt’s responsibilities include the entire gamut of our construction business in addition to supporting our Construction Managers, Project Managers and Engineers to run and deliver diverse projects efficiently and cost-effectively. He is responsible for the overall delivery of all major construction contracts in both the public and private sectors.

Jen Robertson

Jen’s broad project experience ranges from buildings to roads and mining to marine, with extensive expertise in rail. Accountable for the delivery of major construction contracts, Jen is a key driver within our construction team. Jen’s role encompasses supervising and supporting the team, and her natural ability to mentor our Project Managers and Engineers and unite the team is one of her many attributes. Jen also performs contract management, quality assurance, project monitoring, cost reviewing, managing works, and ensuring health and safety project compliance.

Construction Manager

Rodric Carabott

Rod started out as a student engineer gaining experience from both the private and public sectors to become a successful Senior Project Manager. He has the experience and capability to run projects autonomously and mentor Project Managers. He’s adept at managing key procurement negotiations, resolution of commercial issues, financial review and reporting, and liaising with our clients. Rod thrives on diversity and never backs away from a challenge, making him a great fit to our high-performance team.

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Nicholas Murdoch

Nicholas has been a CFO for over 18 years predominantly in the property sector and provides high level commercial insight and economic strategy to our Board of Directors, in addition to leading the Finance team and developing policies and procedures. His key role of preparing financial statements, managing the budgeting process, and measuring and controlling business risks is paramount in the civil construction industry. He supports our Project Managers and Administrators with legislative assistance regarding the financial management of projects.

ESTIMATING MANAGER

Karen Burnie

With over 25 years in the industry, Karen has worked in a myriad of sectors and within a diverse range of construction companies both in Victoria and her hometown in the UK. Karen directs and guides a team of estimators responsible for tender preparation, negotiation, and submission. Her extensive education – Diploma in Civil Construction and a Masters in Engineering Science – with experience working under tight submission deadlines is a real asset in our estimating department.

Steve McInerney

With a career spanning over 30 years, Steve has built an enviable reputation for completing complex projects ahead of time. His focus on delivering quality, timely, under budget and safe projects has afforded Steve an influential name in our management team. Steve is also responsible for supervising site staff and organising project resourcing and programming.

Ben Virtue

With a development career spanning over 15 years in the construction industry, Ben is an extremely experienced and accomplished Business Development Manager. Ben carries an enthusiasm and passionate commitment to networking within the industry and sources valuable and diverse opportunities for our business. Ben is skilful in negotiating and his inherent ability in reading market direction ensures a mutually beneficial success for our business and our clients.

Olivia Bartolo

Olivia’s focus on delivering a seamless employment experience for our employees and exceptional work outcomes for our business has her held in high esteem. Her extensive experience in employee and industrial relations, change management, succession planning, process development and delivery, policy development and review and leading a team of HR professionals grounds her as one of the go-to cultural leaders within our business.

Sandra Costanzo

After graduating from the University of Melbourne with a Masters in Construction Law, Sandra was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria. Sandra’s experience as a Construction Lawyer coupled with her exceptional negotiation skills in the implementation of contracts in the construction and civil engineering industry with prominent Tier One contractors is second to none.

ASSET AND LOGISTICS MANAGER

Kris Bogdanovski

Kris has a wealth of experience in former hands-on roles as well as supervisory and management positions. With a mechanic qualification under his belt, he plans to complete a business management course in the coming years. His management skills encompass technical aspects complemented with solid planning, organisational, and negotiation skills. His key focus is in managing our extensive plant and equipment, ensuring it’s safe to use, and assigning equipment to our projects.

SURVEY MANAGER

Aaron McArthur

With more than ten years in the industry, Aaron joined our team as the very first surveyor and was soon promoted to Survey Manager where he leads and allocates projects within the survey team. Aaron is qualified in Spatial Information and Safety Awareness and in his role has assembled extensive knowledge of civil construction works including quality control, supervision of plans and survey models as well as implementing and maintaining the Survey practices used across all projects. He shares his expertise with servicing on survey equipment and provides technical support to operators.

PROCUREMENT MANAGER

Matthew Bell

As our company’s first Procurement Manager, Matt had previously spearheaded a large number of successful civil projects as a senior executive in one of Australia’s largest companies. Qualified in business, training and safety and with a street-smart mindset in negotiation, communication and management, Matt is a professional in sourcing and managing required supplies across all our projects. Matt builds and maintains long-lasting relationships with a variety of stakeholders and manages our subcontractor agreements.

Marketing & Communications Manager

Lisa Cole

Lisa leads the marketing and communications team with years of marketing and communications expertise and experience. She brings a creative and strategic marketing perspective that communicates to both internal and external stakeholders about why our brand exists and details our company’s journey. Delivered across a variety of digital and non-digital platforms, the collaborative nature of the marketing function means she works closely with various departments and industry partners. She has a keen interest in keeping abreast of the exciting and constant changes taking place in marketing.

George Markelis

George is responsible for developing, auditing and reviewing our safe work practices making sure we meet and exceed industry standards and legislative requirements. With a vast range of qualifications and skills including construction management, workplace safety, contractor management and project planning, George works closely across the department teams to assist with implementing appropriate safety management systems on each project.

HSQ MANAGER

Michael Spiteri

Michael’s enviable skills over 12 plus years of industry experience both here in Australia and overseas makes him a great asset to the company. As a team Michael works alongside George in maintaining our business’ AS 4801, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications and is responsible for all site inspection and quality auditing.

Michael liaises with regulatory authorities, produces monthly reports to our Executive Team and maintains training requirements and records across the company. He also manages incident investigations, workplace safety reviews and statistical analysis as well as internal training and inductions.
